Be Warned Don’t Book at Amsterdam House Hotel

OMG, they cancelled our booking six days before we were due to stay, for their reason they had overbooked the hotel. We booked our stay ten months before we were due to arrive and received a confirmation email that our booking was ‘guaranteed’. When we booked there were plenty of vacancies, so why did they cancel our booking? We booked early in advance, plus we booked direct with the hotel so we can’t complain to a booking agent or leave a bad review on a booking site. We had booked from 27 December to 2nd January to include New Year’s Eve. They gave us six days notice of cancellation, try finding a hotel in Amsterdam over New Year’s Eve six days out, nothing was available anywhere near what we were paying because we were now booking on short notice. Then I went back to read the Tripadvisor reviews for Amsterdam House Hotel and there were lots of complaints about the hotel cancelling peoples bookings. Amsterdam House Hotel have never responded to my emails when I tried to contact them for assistance. Doesn’t get any worse than this, being left with no hotel room with no assistance.

HOTEL INFESTED WITH BED BUGS! Don't go to this hotel, it's the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I booked 2 rooms (22 and 41) and after the second night 3 out of 4 of us got bitten by BED BUGS! We tried to confront the owner about that but he started being very aggressive and didn't take responsibility for what happened. We had to find leave after 2 nights and find another hotel where to stay. Don't ruin your holiday, STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE PLACE!

We stayed at The Amsterdam House Hotel in September. We had the Annex by the canal, What can I say… it was the most loveliest apartment style room we have stayed in, very big and cosy. We were a bit sceptical from reading some of the reviews but so glad we stayed here and we will definitely be booking again in the future. Lovely place and people… Thank-you very much!! :) xx

The moment I entered the room, a pungent moldy smell hit me like a wall. It was clear that cleanliness was a foreign concept here. As if that wasn't enough, my night was plagued by a vicious bed bug infestation. I've never felt more disgusted and uncomfortable in a hotel. A serious health hazard and a complete disgrace. Stay far, far away from this nightmare of a place.

I don’t even know where to begin with how awful this hotel is. It should honestly be condemned. A friend and me checked in here days ago, and immediately regretting having paid for the room. We got to the room, swung open the door and it hit the bed and wouldn’t open the whole way - that’s how tiny it was. Then, the first thing we noticed was the strong smell of BLACK MOLD. We could barely breathe and knew we couldn’t stay here. We immediate left and found another place nearby for double the cost. Good thing we didn’t sleep here too - looks like the place has a bed bug infestation and mice running around.
